Nehe

As you’ve probably heard on the news, We’ve been going through a blizzard!  According to the newcasts it’s the most snow we’ve seen since the mid 90’s.  I moved to Iowa in 95 and have never seen so much snow!  It’s been great though.  A day of relaxation as the entire city was pretty much closed today!  I was able to clean home, cook, spend time with Nehe in the snow and take a nap!  I havn’t had that much rest in a long time.  Thank you Jesus for sending us some snow and giving us a day of much needed rest!

I wanted to share some photos that I was able to take today to give you an idea of how much snow we are experiencing.

This was my chicken coop 2 days ago.  We had some snow, but not bad πŸ˜‰
The girls don’t like snow so they’ve been staying in the coop.  You can see they were still able to walk about in the run as no snow had made it’s way in.
This was the chicken coop today!  As you can see the snow has made it’s way into their run!  Poor girls, they didn’t get out of their coop all day!  The hubby cleared out the snow in the coop and hopefully it will dry out soon πŸ˜‰

Here’s LuLu peaking her head out of the coop, so cute!

The girls are still leaving us eggs.  We get about 5-7 a day!

This is my deck, that’s over a foot of snow on it!

The kids play area

This has been one of the greatest experiences for me.  Seeing the joy of snow through a child’s eye.  I grew up in California where we never had snow.  When I moved to Iowa I was almost 17 and playing in snow was just not cool, lol!  So I never had that childhood experience of looking forward to snow days and snowmen, forts and snowball fights.  It was so much fun just being able to enjoy the snow with my son.  I Can’t wait for more snow days!

So this was our terrible blizzard of ’09!  Not so terrible to me πŸ˜‰

I am soooo glad we don't have any chickens to deal with this winter. Our barn is blocked by a HUGE drift and I am not missing slogging all the way out there morning and evening, in below zero windchills, to feed and water! Now if I had a dogsled…. maybe then. ha-ha!
Glad you had fun with Nehe!
    Blessings,
    Amy

Lovely snow pictures! Boston typically gets tons of snow, and we recently had our first snowfall, although not nearly as much as you! πŸ™‚ Enjoy the snow. I always love snows days. There's something really nice about being "stuck" at home with the family and just enjoying the snowfall outside while relaxing at home. I love it (as long as I don't need to drive!)

I've been to ski mountain in New Zealand. No fun at all caused I've never get to learn how to ski and my bud fall sick after many times of falling & tripping! hahaha…. I was so frustrated and sang out loud. Everybody looking at me in funny faces! haha….
Btw, love all the shots. Just amazing! Poor chicken, guess they'll have to stay indoor till it's over huh!
