Beco Baby Carrier Review and Giveaway!!

LOGO FINAL
If you’ve read about my recent travel to Spain you’ve probably heard me gush about my new Beco Baby Carrier.  I was so happy to receive my carrier made of organic material just in time to use on my trip.

If you’re not familiar with the Beco Baby Carrier, it’s a backpack style carrier which allows you to carry a newborn up to a 45lb toddler on your front or back.

Designed by a babywearing parent, active sailor and rock climber, Gabby Caperon. Beco combines perfect ergonomics, excellent weight distribution and stylish design from top quality fabrics. Each carrier is handmade by a skilled seamstress in facilities which apply high social and economical standards. Sustainability and minimal impact of our production on the environment is important to us. We strive to provide the best quality, safe products and friendly customer service.

Reading the Beco story, designer and owner Gabby Caperon, produced the first Beco from her home as an at home mom.  She needed a more comfortable carrier to carry her growing baby and researched traditional baby carrying from other cultures.  She sewed her first Mei Tei and when she needed something a bit more sturdier she looked towards the innovation of a backpack.  I love it!  Brilliant mom’s creating with passion and love!

I’m so glad Gabby is sharing this product with the world because it was so useful on my trip.  I used it in the airport, buses, trains, touring, to market, and especially as a safe haven for my child as he slept on me.

One of my absolute favorite things about baby carrying is the closeness that it brings to your child.  Feeling their every breath, touch and movement is a constant reminder that my joy and my place in life, at this moment, is to be their mami.

I used my carrier to carry my toddler mostly on my back, however, I would rotate him to the front to sleep or sit in my lap on public transportation.

The Beco was really amazing on long train rides, as I knew my toddler was sleepy but… he’s rambunctious!  The Beco kept him strapped onto me where we chatted, talked, sang and slept!  It was great πŸ˜€

Going to Granada - Spain 2010 264

Before I go on, I do want to make it clear that the Beco Baby Carrier was given to me.  This review is unedited and based solely on my opinion.

The Beco Baby Carrier was also comfortable and easy to use.  The straps are padded and easy to adjust.  You can pull them down and tighten the strap.  The bottom support pad and strap kept his weight distributed evenly and I could carry him for quite a long time.  Below is one of many instructional videos.

This is my first backpack carrier and I am enjoying it!  Before I had this carrier, I carried Zekie in a moby wrap as a newborn and moved to a Baby Bjorn that was given to me as a baby shower gift.  He was already used to be carried by mami, but what I found so enjoyable is that he enjoyed riding on my back.  “Up high!”  “Up high!” Zekie would yell… so cute!!

Here’s a fun video of us at the very top of an ancient castle in Granada, Spain.  Carrying Zekie on my back allowed me to take him places that I would have been way to scared of before.  I had no fear of him climbing or playing around near dangerous places and we enjoyed a special time together.

I also enjoyed that I was able to carry my older son in it.  He enjoyed it as well!

Dianas--Spain-2010-780
After this trip, I told my husband as long as each of the boys could be in a carrier, I was no longer fearful to visit the Grand Canyon!  Maybe a future vaca is in order πŸ˜‰

The people of Beco were gracious enough to give my sister a Beco as well.  Anyone that reads my blog knows that my family and I are very close.  So it was so much fun being able to carry our babies together.  Ezra was five months at the time and enjoyed the closeness of sleeping on his mama.

Dianas- Spain 2010 536

The only thing that was difficult for my sister is that Ezra does enjoy being carried facing out.  Unfortunately, the Beco does not allow the baby to face out.  Maybe a feature they could add in the future?

Since coming home, I’ve had opportunities of using it at the farmers market, while gardening, at the pool, on walks, at a wedding and other everyday routines and events we’ve attended.  really it’s been my secret weapon to keeping a toddler from hitting the high road! As my hubby and I are praying about bambino number 3, it makes me even more excited to think about carrying him/her in the Beco!

As you can tell, I really enjoyed this product and do recommend it to anyone.  It’s easy, comfortable, organic, and the patterns are ADORABLE!!  So now is the really exciting part!!!

Beco has agreed to giveaway one Beco Baby Carrier with the super cute panther pattern to one of my readers!!  I enjoy this pattern as it works well with men.  Yes, they do enjoy carrying their children as well πŸ˜€

Hi Diana!! What a beautiful giveaway =) I would give this as a gift to my youngest sister. She had a baby in March…and also has 1 year old twins. I think this carrier would let her spend a little special-time with each boy individually…plus it would free up her hands for each of the other two! πŸ˜‰

I love wearing my babies because it keeps me from being tied to the couch! They get rocked to sleep or lulled into contentedness while I do housework! And with 5 big siblings, like this next baby will have, there are lots of other ones that need attention concurrently. Babywearing is the only way I can do my life.

I used to wear my son in a sling when he was tiny, and we used it so much that I never even touched a stroller until he was 6 or 7 months old. He's a squirmy little toddler now, but I still wish I could wear him sometimes, especially since he is a little string bean and probably won't weigh 45 pounds until he is in kindergarten.

I have a very clingy baby, 7 weeks old so being able to wear him is a lifesaver! Before I discovered babywearing I was unable to do anything! Now I can wrap him up and he stays happy and content while I am able to clean my house, go shopping etc. My baby also has really severe acid reflux and needs to be upright as often as possible. The Beco would help us greatly with that!

I love babywearing because my son loves it πŸ˜› He is very high needs and wearing him helps him go to sleep or just gives me free hands when he just wants to be held. I have a ergo right now but also wanted a beco and wanted to share one with one of my single mom friends who hasn't been introduced to the wonderful world of babywearing.

I have carried all 3 of my babies, my oldest is 15 years old and was carried in a HUMONGOUS snugli carrier that he outgrew by 6 months old. My DD is now 12 and had a ring sling that had an overabundance of padding so I wasn't comfortable carrying her in it until she was 3-4 months old. My littlest one is 18 months and started of in a Moby wrap-the absolute best newborn carrier on the planet IMO and then moved on to an Ergo. I love the closeness of wearing my babies, that I can travel so incredibly easy with them-we too have made many a trip with our Ergo switching front to back depending on the situation, and the bond that I don't think you can get any other way than wearing your babies.

the best thing about wearing your baby is the extra bonding time you get with them. and it is also a lifesaver when you have chores and errands to get done and you have a toddler who rarely naps (like mine!). we currently use a woven wrap, but my boy is getting so heavy (30 lbs at 16 months!) that a Beco would be wonderful to have.

I use a carrier quite similar to the Beco. I love the bonding and closeness it allows for. It allowed me to nurse my son discreetly while walking through a park, or eating out. I could go to the beach for an entire day with friends and strap in to my back when he needed a nap. The escalators at the mall, crowded festivals and Ikea are not match for us because the carrier negates the need for a bulky, inconvenient stroller. Best baby item ever!

I use to be a baby carrier but havent carried my baby since he was 8 months. I would love to carry him again because we now live in a city be the beach (Monterey) and everyone walks here. My husband is in the military so hes not home much and a baby carrier would enable me to be able to take my kids out in town or to the beach or aquarium where as now I cant because I have 3 small children. We have a stroller but nothing around here is really double stroller friendly.

I really wanted to carry my children in a carrier. With the first 2 children we had a carrier but I hated it as it was so hard on my shoulders and my hubby is tall and couldn't get it to adjust for him correctly. We got rid of it and with the 3rd my mom got me a Baby Bjorn, didn't like that one any better, really hard to adjust between my husband and I and also hurt my shoulders. Gave it to my sister and she didn't like it either. For the 4th child I bought a moby wrap. I used it a couple of times but I am short and there was so much fabric left over and although it worked it was hard to get on and comfortable and I always felt like he was slipping down and pulling it down and I could never quite get it adjusted right.

I would love this carrier as he is getting bigger but I would still love to carry him!!

I am currently a baby wearing mama, and the best thing is having your hands free while your child is close! When my little girl was a newborn, it was so nice to be able to hold her and still take care of household chores. Now it's so much easier to carry her on me then to push a stroller around, especially when shopping or at the airport.

I currently don't wear my 2 1/2 yr old little girl. However, I am very interested in it. I have friends who are avid baby wearers, have tried their carriers and I'm hooked! The only problem is the ones they have don't go over 30 pounds, and my girl is almost 28 pounds. I am very excited about the Beco carrier! I have scoliosis, and as a result it is difficult for me to carry my daughter for any amount of time. She gets very sad about it, and I miss the closeness. The carriers make it much easier to carry my daughter.

I would love to win this so I could avoid the stress I had with my 2nd son if this one shares the same traits. Besides the Beco is absolutely Beautiful.

I am not yet a baby wearing mama. I did place my 1st carrier order today, though! I think it would be perfect to help corral my 19 month old son. I love to take him everywhere, but he isn't always a fan of the stroller (and I don't blame him…that thing doesn't look too comfy!). Plus, it would be perfect for places like the zoo, when he gets too tired to walk!

I LOVE wearing my baby! With two preschoolers running around, babywearing allows me to not only be hands-free, but hold my little one close. She doesn't get lost in the shuffle, she always on me! Our oldest just finished two weeks of swimming lessons (every day). I truly had a new appreciation for baby-wearing after finding it so incredibly easy to take a 2 year old AND a 7 month old to watch swim lessons every morning. With baby on my back, I never had to worry. Truly amazing!

I also wish I could give everyone a know a baby carrier of their own. Love love love it!

I'm a babywearing momma, but am not happy with my current carrier. I rented a beco for a bit and fell in love, but due to finances chose a different model. I MISS THAT BECO!

This is THE perfect gift for a mom or dad because it keeps the baby close to the parents. Babies need to be held and carrying them in a carrier is a perfect way to do that while being able to get other things done. Thanks for offering such an awesome review and giveaway!

I am a baby wearing mama! One of the many great things about baby wearing is the great bonding time you get to share with your little one, there's nothing better than having them snuggled close to you even while running errands!

I have always worn my oldest son (2 yrs) in an Ergo, but I would love to have the ease and closeness of wearing my newborn in a Beco. We carry them inside us for 40 weeks, but they still need to be on us for so long after that – I love babywearing!

I enjoy carrying my babies, though a sling has always been my modus operandi before. Beco seems to be the best SSC that I've been researching. Thanks for the contest opporunity!

I wore my baby when she was small but now she's 21months and 32lbs I don't have a carrier that can hold her comfortably, I would love a beco so I could wear her and we are expecting twins so I would especially love to wear them as I wonder if it will be harder to bond with twins and babywearing would help that

I would enjoy carrying my baby because I think it would make it so much easier to keep baby happy while I also tend to a toddler. It gives baby the comfort of being close to mom or dad and rocked to sleep while giving mom or dad the use of their hands!

I've tried several types of carriers but always gone cheap and bought things from friends – how I wish I would have just spent the money to get a Beco in the first place! But now my hubby is going crazy at the fact that I want another one! I have a three year old and a 9 month old. The 9 month old is just hitting the teething-wants-mama-to-constantly-hold-her-phase. I would LOVE to have a Beco to carry her in a way that is comfortable for both of us!

I have been wearing my LO since birth in wraps. I love the bond that it gives me, especially since my 9 mos old is so wiggly and NEVER cuddles out of a carrier. It's been the best way to do everything, but I'm struggling to find a carrier that I love as much as wrapping for quick trips.
