I love the cold that Winter brings. It is a cold that ushers in such warmth. For me winter means cozy-ing up by the fire, sipping hot cocoa and enjoying treats with loved ones.
As a new mom, this years Christmas has brought me many exciting things to ponder in a fresh and meaningful way. I am overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude.
Gratitude for my family, my growing baby girl, a safe warm place to live, and for a God that I strive to understand. In gratitude, I want to savor every moment as much as I can including the little things like homemade treats including chocolate peanut butter bonbons.
If I were a super-mom, (which I undoubtedly am not) chocolate would be my kryptonite. I am a self-proclaimed addict. This recipe for chocolate peanut butter bonbons came about when I was experimenting with Kimi’s recipe for Silky Maple Chocolate Fudge. I do have to warn you, these bonbons are absolutely addicting.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Bonbons Sweetened with Maple Syrup.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (with additional 1 Tbs. for dusting)
- 1/3 cup peanut butter (crunchy is best)
- 1/4 cup softened coconut oil
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
Method:
- Place all ingredients in a bowl. Mash with a fork until mixed. Use a spoon to ensure the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
- Place in refrigerator until slightly hardened.
- Using your hands, gently roll into balls. Place on a plate and allow to chill in refrigerator.
- Place 1 Tbs cocoa powder in a small bowl.
- Remove rolled bonbons from refrigerator and roll in cocoa powder.
If anyone you cherish has peanut allergies (or for a change) you can use almond butter instead of peanut butter. It works great.
Wishing you a wonderful and gratitude-filled Christmas and New Year!
What will you be cherishing in the New Year?
These look fantastic! I have a very similar recipe on my website but these are much simpler. Making these soon, thanks!
