Feed Your Soul Friday

zekie_flower

Just as important as food is to our physical bodies, so is filling our souls with the spiritual.

This past weekend I was able to spend some refreshing time at an annual women’s retreat put on by my home church.  For me, it’s always a time of rest away from outside noise and distractions where I can not only reflect on my life but on God’s calling for me.

It’s a sweet time of fellowship with other woman.  Different and unique in our own way, we laugh… cry… and pray.

We sing praises to the Lord… and surrender.

It’s at these retreats that I really ask God to pour his Spirit over me.  One thing He showed me was that regardless of where a woman stands in her walk with the Lord, or if she even knows Christ at all, there is a lot of pain, hurt and anguish in our souls.

What that looks like is different to the individual, but nonetheless, it hurts and literally reaches in and robs us of our joy.

A gift that I know the Lord has given me is of creativity.  Of seeing the beautiful in the meekest and darkest of places.  Of being able to spend time in His creation and note how amazing He truly is.  The Master of Creativity (in his creation) joyfully gave me a gift to slightly understand what He sees.

How awesome is that? But… there’s always a but, lol.  I need to use it for His glory.

In prayer, I asked God what that might look like and how to best use what I have been given to bring Him glory.

In seeing the hurt… In seeing the pain… In seeing the anguish, I knew that many of us online are looking and searching to feed our souls.

So, the beginning of Feed Your Soul Friday’s has come to fruition.

What that entirely looks like, I’m not sure.  I was hesitant to write this post because, hey, I’m a food blog.  However, what good is nourishing our bodies with food if we’re dying spiritually?

I know there are many unbelievers that follow my blog.  A few things I wanted to point out about being a believer or unbeliever is

  • We’re all sinners
  • We all need Jesus
  • WE’RE ALL SINNERS, (Romans 3:23)

Yup, believer or unbeliever, we all sin and we all hurt and we all have pain and nothing is ever perfect.  We’re all searching, but there is only one thing that has ever brought me peace and joy and that is the love that God has freely given to me.

I’d like to share that with you.

Regardless of where you stand, I’ll never place judgement upon you.  That’s not my place or objective.

I truly appreciate and have come to love this little community that has formed at Spain in Iowa.

It’s time to nourish our bodies and our souls.  Welcome to Feed Your Soul Friday.

Let me know your thoughts?

So glad the Lord ministered to you. It is so easy to get caught up in the daily life and forget to even nourish our physical bodies… how much more do we forget to nourish our souls? LOL! Look forward to reading up on your Friday posts!

I enjoyed this post. I find it difficult to separate God/Christ from any aspect of my life. My food blog reflects this. Many of my slice of life stories contain my spiritual belief and a recipe to boot i.e. Christmas Candy For The Christ Child. God asks us to use our talents…so we do…He asks us to use our talents for His glory…so we do. I see you understand this. I don’t live in the South, harvest anything, raise chickens or homestead, but we are sisters in our love of family, food & God. As I like to say, “You gotta eat in between praying.” N

Thanks for sharing your faith! I’m a food (and other things) blogger too and I have been wondering how to do that (I’m fairly new to blogging). I like the idea of feeding your soul. It’s important! So glad you enjoyed your retreat. I love my church women’s retreats!
