Week one down! I didn’t hit the mark on all of my goals but I did pretty well. I made it to the gym 4 days this week. Monday through Thursday I was able to get to bed at 10:30pm and make it to the gym by 6:30am. I was pretty sore for a couple of days but what can you expect after not doing intense exercise for so long. I had much more energy during the day but crashed at night! I drank a green smoothie 3 days this week and who was I kidding, green smoothies 7 days a week, no thank you! Maybe 3 tops, but I’m not the kind of girl that can drink a meal, sorry, I need sustenance – FOOD! I realized really quickly that I didn’t want to put myself on a diet. I have never been on a diet and as long as I can control my portion sizes, I will continue to eat REAL FOOD π Butter, eggs, raw milk, animal fats, whole grains, legumes, fish/shellfish and grassfed/pastured meats. I can hear my papi when I start to think about weight, “mija, it’s better to be a little over weight than under.” Isn’t it so true! I have a husband who loves me and a family by my side, 10 extra lbs… whatev! I’ll lose it when I lose it π
As part of my goals, I really committed myself this week to praying for my hubby and can I just say we had the most wonderful week we have had in a long time. Moods were enlightened and joy filled our home and I know the Holy Spirit was at work! God is so amazing when you seek Him!
So next week I want to work on portion control and better nourishing lunches. What kind of lunches do you eat? I’ve really been inspired by my friend Kristen’s blog over at Flexy Fare. She always seems to be on top of eating the greatest meals using fresh ingredients. She also makes killer larabars! I’m thinking quinoa, canned wild atlantic salmon, sardines and salads. Any other ideas?? I’m all ears π For snacks I will continue with fresh cheese’s, fermented beets, soaked almonds and fruit.
I also need to start waking up a half hour before I need to hit the gym in order to fit in my devotion time. Or maybe I can spend time reading the Word while the kids are taking a nap. That might be the solution!
So that was my week π How about you? Are you participating in the 10 in 2010? Please comment and leave me your blog name so I can visit you π Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Congratulations on those changes Diana. You are doing great most especially in spending time with God's word. I need to upgrade that too. When I have leftover brown rice, I eat for my breakfast. I add some chicken stock and whatever ingredients I have. For lunch, I try to stay away from our typical lunch, so, I would have greens with some chicken, walnuts or even add a few grains. Sometimes brown rice with miso soup (with vegetables and edamame) and kimchi. Have a great week Diana. π

Lunches I typically do a big salad with whatever veggies, nuts and/or beans we have around and then snacks for the afternoon with fruit, fun granola bars, etc. Sometimes I do a hummus wrap or sandwich. I need lots of variety so I don't get bored of bringing it everyday π And I always love leftovers!

I think your papa is right. A little overweight is fine. As long as it is just a little.

Diana – I'm amazed at all the things you are pulling off! It's tough finding time to read the Word. I need to be better about that too.
Yum- quinoa. Have you tried wheat berries? For some reason I find chewing on them surprisingly satisfying.

You're doing a great job so far! It's great that you have also incorporated some goals for spiritual growth. Praying for your husband everyday is such a great goal. I know that my husband and I really notice a difference in our relationship when we make time for prayer each day.

I wish we could hit the gym together!! I usually go in the evenings, and not in the same part of the country. π
My favorites lately are roasted turnips, carrots, and sweet potatoes!! I am also doing pizzas with homemade crust pretty much weekly!

I went to the gym twice this week and walked at least a mile each time. I did not have the guts yet to commit to weight loss goals on my blog yet. Great job, Diana. Here's to a healthier new year. -Tien π

Green smoothies are supposed to be about getting super nutrition, not about meal replacement. You can still eat food for breakfast with them, or make one as a snack later in the day. Don't give up on your goal!
Okay, that's it for my pep squad talk, lol… π I have been loving green smoothies. They have completely curbed my junk food cravings, and for that, I will be forever hooked!
Blessings!

I'm so proud of you, Diana! Glad that you could managed your time well. Though it's not easy at all for a mother of two. Sometimes, it's just so hard to leave them behind with someone else.
Me too! I prefer to take real food. I would just cut down the size or skip my dinner sometimes. If I skip my dinner, I'll take snacks at around 5pm. And no more after that! Guess, still solid food the best! hahaha….

We have a lot in common. I need to lose 10 pounds. I exercise all the time, so that part of my life is good. I need to eat REAL, whole, fresh food and NO diets. My husband thinks i'm perfect (Im not) and I need to spend more time in God's word. I've read the bible through 3 times and then took too long of a break. You have helped to inspire me.I do pray, but it's never enough, because you're right, it changes everything to the better. Cheers to another week.
