In Light of Japan: My Prayers are With Your People

There are some people that live off the land in order to be a steward of this Earth and to gleam in the riches that the Lord has freely given to us.

There are those that live off the land in order to learn a self sustaining life and build up skills to prepare themselves for tribulations, famine or even armageddon.

A Question:

If tribulation, famine, or armageddon does fall upon us would you share of your riches with others?

Would you share food you have labored for in your gardens?

Would you share eggs, milk and meat from your livestock?

Would you share of your land to provide a place of rest?

Or…

Would you turn people away and let each man fend for himself?

In light of Japan, my prayers are with the thousands of people left in ruin, heartache and loss.  Here in the United States, I have decided to not be fearful of radiation running to the store for potassium iodide pills, instead to be in prayer for the people of Japan.

I don’t know what is going to happen in this world that we live in.  I can only set my sight on the promises that God has given us.  Yes, it’s good to be prepared for emergency situations, however, when catastrophe arises are you prepared to give away what is rightfully yours?

Our God gave away His ONLY son so that we may live eternally.

His is the heart that I am seeking after and in light of that I have to remind myself…

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  (Matthew 6:34)

As a believer, it’s never easy and I question my God far too often.  However, with every day He is showing me…

For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21)

Dear Lord, help me to seek you everyday.  Help me to live in perspective that one day you will return and that the things of this world are unimportant.  Give me a selfless heart that you have and to give of myself including my “things” to others.  Lord, I fail so often and I thank you for not giving up on me no matter what.  In your name, Amen.

This is an interesting scenario that you present to us. I may even call it a challenge to open our hearts. I’d like to think that we do what we can to help each other out. I hope this is the case when we are faced with this situation.
