10 Christmas Gift Ideas for the Real Foodie

10 Christmas Gift Ideas for the Real Foodie | myhumblekitchen.com

I’m not a fashionista but I’m definitely a kitchenista. Since I do cook, a lot, I enjoy the gadgets and appliances that help me in my productivity; however, I also enjoy the aesthetic of  linen tea towels or the romance of copper pots and pans. Yes, I dream in kitchens and I’m sure many of you do as well.

Since we’re most likely on the same page here, I want to share with you 10 of my favorite Christmas gift ideas for the real foodie.

1. Cultured Kits from Food52

I absolutely adore Provisions by Food52. It’s an online kitchen store brought to you by the amazing folks at Food52. It’s an elegant yet simple shop that sells practical, simple; yet, unique products for the kitchen. Here are some of my favorite kits that I think would make an amazing Christmas gift. Check out the rest of their shop for a huge range of kitchen products.

2. An Immersion Blender

10 Christmas Gift Ideas for the Real Foodie

An immersion blender is on my list for Christmas this year. It’s honestly unbelievable that I haven’t invested in one yet. This tool makes blending soups to a puree a snap. You don’t have to transfer the soup or sauce you want pureed to a blender; instead, you use the immersion blender to puree your soup or sauce directly in the pot immediately increasing your productivity. It’s amazing! Also, have I ever mentioned that my family in Spain uses this to make their homemade mayonnaise? Another reason to get one!

Amazon usually has a great discount on the Cuisinart Smart Stick.

3. Garlic Press

I could not cook without my garlic press. It’s one of my most used tools that I use nearly every day. This is a staple that I’m sure any real foodie would love to add to their kitchen.

You can find a wide variety of garlic press here.

4. Linen Tea Towels from Food52

A way to to a foodies heart is through linen. Food 52 has a beautiful collection.

5. Cast Iron

Enough said, right?!

Keep your eyes on this Lodge Cast Iron set sold on Amazon. They discount the set regularly.

6. Cast Iron Enameled Dutch Oven

10 Christmas Gift Ideas for the Real Foodie | myhumblekitchen.com

Nothing quite compares to a soup, stew, or slow cooked braise made in an enameled dutch oven. The flavors turn out rustic, bold, and full of depth.

The top of the line and most coveted dutch oven is the Le Creuset but please know that there are many brands you can buy that will fit your budget.

You can find a wide range of prices by clicking through to Amazon here.

7. Linen Aprons on Food52

I swoon for these and I’m sure the real foodie in your life will as well.

8. Food Processor

This is one of my treasured appliances in my real food kitchen. I use it to make large batches of salsa in the summer, to make pie dough in minutes, and to chop up vegetables in a snap. It was my Christmas gift a few years ago and one that I know will bring your loved one as much joy as it did me.

You can find the Kitchen Aid 13 Cup Food Processor here.

9. Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer

I can’t think of a better time of year than Christmas to bless your loved one (or yourself) with the beloved Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer. It’s another of my most used appliances in my kitchen. I use it to make Nourishing Cookies for a Healthy Holiday, to make bread, whip up eggs to a meringue, whip cream, and much more.

I own the professional series like you see above. You can find the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer here.

10. Mason Jars and Accessories from Food52

Hi Diana! A set of cast iron cookware is on my list this year. I’ve looked at the Lodge as well. Do you have an opinion on pre-seasoned vs. not? I always get a little concerned with coatings already on a pan but I’d like the convenience of having the skillets ready to go. Thanks!

You know, Jen, the cast iron I’ve bought new has always been pre-seasoned. I’ve had a rough time finding any new that isn’t pre-seasoned. I’ve also bought one of my pans from an antique store and they are crazy expensive there, so I’ve opted for Lodge ever since. The Lodge is pre-seasoned with soy oil. Now, although it’s pre-seasoned it does wear out so I wasn’t too concerned about the soy. With mine, I’ve had to continually season it as I go. I give it a good coating of coconut, olive oil, or lard after each use so mine are now smooth as butter! It’s really up to you as you’ll need to season it more than the original pre-season. Hope that helped!
