As I shared in a previous post, How We’ve Become a Family that Reads, this upcoming year my family will be moving away from the My Father’s World curriculum to a complete Charlotte Mason based education. I’ll share soon what that’s going to look like: I am very excited about it!
Over the past few weeks I’ve been ordering books and roughly planning our schedule. I usually purchase a homeschool planner to start my planning. With diving into a CM based education, our days are not planned around subjects and lessons to be completed for the day. Rather, they’re planned around the clock. Each student has a certain amount of time allocated for each subject. As far as standard planners go, you can imagine the dilemma I was running into. I just couldn’t seem to find a planner that was based on Charlotte Mason’s method of education.
An Editable Charlotte Mason Homeschool Planner
Based on my Charlotte Mason educational outline provided to me by Liz and Emily from A Delectable Education, I started customizing my own lesson plans. I started to share what I was doing on Instagram and before I knew it many people started to comment that they’d like a Charlotte Mason homeschool planner of their own. So, in all of my enfp ways, I got busy and created a complete Charlotte Mason homeschool planner incorporating the artwork of illustrator, scientist, and naturalist, Maria Sibylla Merian. It’s completely editable!
Since we’re already headed into August, I’ve decided to give this Charlotte Mason homeschool planner away for free to anyone that would like to use it for the 2016 – 2017 school year. After using it, in the coming year, I’d appreciate your feedback so that I can refine and add to it. You’ll see what’s included in the images below.
A year-at-a-glance,
term 1 – 3 enrichment pages (editable),
a book list (editable),
weekly notes (editable),
a bit of inspiration before the lesson plans,
a weekly schedule page that allows for 3 students (editable),
a daily lesson plan page that allow for 2 students (editable),
finally, blank monthly calendar pages in which I included poetry to bring about some truth, beauty, and goodness to your day.
If you can find this Charlotte Mason homeschool planner useful, you can download it for free by signing up to my email list below.
Once subscribed, you’ll be sent to a page on my blog where you can download the Charlotte Mason homeschool planner and monthly calendar pages, plus, as an additional bonus, you can also download my menuplan eBook, A Month of Meals from My Humble Kitchen to Yours, absolutely free! If you run into any problems, email me at [email protected] and I’ll get back to you within the day.
I hope you can find this planner useful!
I believe you and I are soul sisters! I’ve been perusing some of your blog posts about homeschooling and we are both on the same path. I LOVE A Delectable Education podcasts and have really changed our upcoming homeschool year based on them even though I’ve been a CM homeschooler for a while. All that to say, thank you so much for such a beautiful CM planner. It is impossible to find one anywhere on the internet or in stores so I thank you for filling such need in the CM homeschool community. If you get a chance swing by my blog and check it out. Hopefully you’ll find some useful things there as well.
Thanks for stopping by Chelli. I’ll definitely be checking out your blog!
Thank you! This looks great and much better than what I was using between several planners that only kind of worked.
I’m glad you like it 😀
Thank you!!! I have tried and tried to make one and I just couldn’t get it right!!! Yours looks amazing! Can’t wait to try it out!
No problem!
I love it! Thank you. Very functional & beautiful too!
I’m glad you can find it useful!
Wow! Thank you! This is amazing and an answer to my prayers. I am not new to the CM method but this is the first year I’ve attempted putting everything all together and I was completely lost on how to do it. I’d have paid $20 or more for this planner!!! I love that it is editable and I can type things in and not write them in. Thank you for being a blessing!
I’m glad to hear that, Diane!
Hi Diana!
Thank you so very much for generously offering this gorgeous homeschool planner. I just printed it out and I can’t wait to start using it!
I was wondering if you could share more info on what exactly your CM educational outline is? Is it something discussed in a particular episode of the Delectable Education podcast? I’m still very new to the CM way and am anxious to learn all I can!
Thanks again so much!
Amy, for sure! I plan on sharing a post soon!!
I’m not homeschoosing but I will use your templates, they are so pretty!
This is a lovely planner, just what I’ve been searching for. Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the Charlotte Mason approach as much as we have. Blessings to you!
I’m glad to hear that!
I also am using a booklist from the ladies at A delectable education for our curriculum this year. So excited to use this planner! I’m happy to see it’s more CM than AO
Awesome planner. Thank you for your generosity to share it to us.
God Bless you and your family.
I’m glad you enjoy it! Have a blessed day 😀
Your planner is lovely. I Like the nature & small touches on each page. I do have a few suggestions. Would it be possible to give us the availability to change font size for what we are typing into the schedules? Also would it be possible to have a horizontal layout with the days of the week down the left hand side of the page & subjects blanks across the top? anyhow just a few thoughts.
Thanks for putting your time and effort into such a lovely planner. I will for sure be back this spring when I start planning next year.
Blessings –
Carol
Great ideas, Carol! Thanks!!
Hi Diana,
Did you change your give away to a menuplan? I was really looking forward to the CM planner!
No, I didn’t. You should still be able to access the CM planner on my welcome page once you subscribe to my email list. Let me know if you need any help!
My 3rd son currently attends a CM school. However, next year I have decided to homeschool him and my youngest son. I want to use the CM method, but feel completely overwhelmed and have no idea where to begin. I am going to listen to the podcasts. Any other suggestions? I’m starting to plan now for next school year. Thank you!
Hi Holly. A Good quickstart guide would be to read For the Children’s Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay –> http://amzn.to/2lRvYBr. Once you have an understanding of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, I would read her book, Home Education, while listening to the podcast. –> http://amzn.to/2kU64xa Then, call for a consultation. Hope that helps!
Thank you for sharing this! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!! And I’m so excited to hear that there’s a 17-18 in the works. Truly an answer to prayer. Thank you for blessing my life in such a needed way. May He bless you in your labors in His kingdom.
No problem!!
I need the updated 17-18 Planner 😀 lol This looks amazing. We are also moving away from My Father’s World this year and kind of creating my own pieced together curriculum, but wanting to try to stick close to Charlotte Mason Style. I hope I don’t miss when you finish the new one!
I’m working on it, Julie! Thanks for stopping by. 😀
Thank you so much for this. Not only is it practical, but it is just lovely. Makes me happy to start the day! Bless you!
This is such a beautiful planner, and very well thought out – I can’t wait for the 2017-2018 planner. I just want to make sure I didn’t miss it!
Charlene, I’ll have the updated version completed and ready for download, Monday, May 15th! Thanks for your patience 😀
Thank you again for doing this! I’m praying for you today! God bless!
I was just wondering if the updated planner was made available? I keep checking the site and haven’t seen a link. Thank you!
I would love your advice and experience going from MFW to straight CM, which is exactly what we are doing next year!
Best decision ever!
I couldn’t find the link to download the free planner!!!
Jenn, once you subscribe to my email list, you’ll be sent to a page with the download links.
Is your planner still available? Do you have a blank one where we insert our own days of the month where it could be used year after year? After 12 years of homeschooling my oldest will be graduating this year and I’m changing gears with my 5th Grader. We will be leaving our community after 5 years and starting on a CM Journey. I had purchased mfw creation to the Greeks but still keep coming back to cm
Teresa, no, I haven’t made a blank planner yet. I do have many new things in the works for this coming school year though!
I would love to have your beautiful planner!
