Modern Buttercream and How to Build A Tiered Cake

There was a time in my life that baking cakes was my hobby. Not just baking them, but decorating them as well. I took a series of Wilton classes at my local Hobby Lobby store and fell in love with the creativity of putting together bright fun birthday cakes or large tiered ones with classical whimsy. The more cakes that I started to bake and decorate, soon enough, more and more people started asking me to make them for their special celebrations. ... continue reading...

Urban Homesteading

We’re Building a Homestead From the Ground Up … Now What?

Friends, I am so thrilled to be able to share with you that next year we will no longer be urban homesteaders but living the full fledged homesteading life. Jesus Loves You

I was going to share with you some pumpkin recipes that I've created over the years including stews, soups, side dishes, oatmeal, cookies, and bars. However, my heart has been weighing heavy. Jesus walked this earth and humbly lived his life to teach us how to live our own. He died on a cross and three days later rose again to give us, you and me, the hope of a life ... continue reading...

But while we are blessed with clean water coming through indoor plumbing, are you aware of some of the environmental contaminants that are frequently found in that water? Traces of heavy metals like mercury and aluminum, pesticide residues, and volatile organic compounds can be found in our drinking water! This is why ... continue reading...

How to Poach an Egg Plus A Seasonal Tartine Recipe

It seems simple enough, right ... poaching an egg? Well, if you enjoy poached eggs like I do, you'll know that without a few simple techniques, you may end up with a whirlpool of a mess instead of a shimmering cooked egg white encasing a warm centered yolk. Ask me how I know ;) Over the years I seem to have done okay poaching eggs at home. I enjoy to make them to top onto sauteed greens or to place on my morning toast. My method has been to bring some water to a boil, drop in the eggs, one ... continue reading...
