Local Foods Movement, Part 1, Franklin Community Garden
Yesterday was most definitely a wierd and exciting day. At around 4pm, Local News Channel 5 had called me inquiring about my baby chicks. At first I thought, "Oh NO!!! I'm busted!" Which then turned to, "Wait... it's legal, how could they possibly know about my chicks?" BAWK BAWK BAWK – Our First Backyard Chickens
The Bauman chickens are here!! My kids and I were pretty excited to finally pick up our chickens thanks to Des Moines Feed and Nursery. We picked up 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes and 2 Buff Orpingtons. The folks at Des Moines Feed and Nursery set us up with a heat lamp, a feeder and waterer for the baby chicks. It was so much fun looking into a box of soo many tiny chicks while Xavier and Nehemiah picked out two each.
